Manchester City vs Chelsea Match Report-2018

Bernardo Silva goal in the 46th min helped Manchester City beat Chelsea 1-0 at Etihad Stadium

It was totally a one sided contest as Chelsea were handed their 4th straight defeat in 5 games.

Manchester City with 18 points climb to the top of the table and are only four wins from the title, while Chelsea are five points adrift of the top four in fifth place.

Chelsea were without midfielder N’Golo Kante who was injured, and his absence was felt as Man City dominated the first half completely.

Chelsea went into the break without conceding a goal but an error from Andreas Christensen was seized upon by Sergio Aguero whose wait for his 200th City goal continues.

Man City did get the ball in the net in the first half but Nicolas Otamendi’s tap in was ruled out for offside against Aguero.

Aguero regained possession on the edge of the box but found David Silva on the left. His cross was turned in by Bernardo Silva at the far post.

Cesc Fabregas break created an opening for Moses, but his shot went into the side net.

Conte finally decided to introduce a striker after 78 minutes, but it was Olivier Giroud, and not Morata, who initially got the call.

Morata entered the fray in the last minute but Chelsea’s last chance came and went as Marcos Alonso sliced wide.
