Romelu Lukaku started his Premier League debut at Old Trafford by scoring twice as Manchester United began the 2017-18 campaign with a comfortable 4-0 win over West Ham United to top the table after the opening round of fixtures. The Belgian striker, who cost Man United £90m this summer from Everton, has now scored 11 times in his last 11 league appearances against the Hammers. The forward, who has previously represented the likes of Chelsea, West Brom and Everton, opened the scoring by getting at the end of a Marcus Rashford pass to give the hosts a deserved lead in the 33rd minute. He doubled their advantage by heading in Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s free kick seven minutes into the second half. Lukaku was however denied a hat trick by a brilliant block from Pablo Zabaleta. The third goal finally came as Mkhitaryan teed up Anthony Martial with three minutes remaining and Paul Pogba then added a fourth with a curling shot in the last minute.
