Joleon Lescott and David James sign new contracts

Portsmouth’s veteran goalkeeper David James and Toffees defender Joleon Lescott have signed extensions to their contracts. James will now stay at Fratton Park till the end of the 2009-’10 season while Lescott has pledged his future to Everton till the summer of 2012.

Both James and Lescott have enjoyed tremendous success with their clubs after moving from Manchester City and Wolves respectively.

James shows no sign of slowing down at 37, and his form even earned him a recall to the English national side by Fabio Capello.

Lescott can play as both left and centre back, and some Everton fans have gone so far as to call him ” The best defender on Merseyside “
