David Wheater signs new Boro deal

Middlesbrough defender David Wheater has signed a new contract with the club which will see him stay at the Riverside for the next three and a half years. Wheater’s contract was due to expire in the summer, and the extension ensures that he will stay at Boro for the foreseeable future. The defender, who was born on Valentine’s Day, has been one of Boro’s more consistent players this season.

Wheater has represented England at the U-21 level and has been tipped by Fabio Capello as a future Three Lions star.
