Arsenal to meet Barcelona in quarterfinals of Champions League
The draw for the quarterfinals of the 2009-10 UEFA Champions League was made today in Switzerland, and holders Barcelona will face Arsenal in a rematch of the 2006 final contested by the two teams.
French rivals Lyon and Bordeaux have been drawn in an all French quarterfinal while surprise Russian qualifiers CSKA Moscow will meet Italian leaders Inter Milan.
Last season’s losing finalists Manchester United will face FC Bayern in another repeat from a previous year final. United beat Bayern the year they achieved their famous treble.
The winner of the Arsenal-Barcelona clash will take on the winner of Inter Milan vs CSKA, with the winner of Manchester United vs Bayern Munich taking on the winner of the all French quarterfinal between Lyon and Bordeaux.
I cannot wait for the Arsenal-Barcelona game – these must be the 2 best footballing sides Europe at the moment! This should be a great game.
I think Arsenal can win this tie! I know everyone is predicting a Barca/Man Unt final but I think Wenger can pull off something special this year.
Arsenal’s form in the Premier League at the moment is great and they coasted through the last round. Could this be Arsenal’s year? I hope so, as Wenger deserves to win something this year.
