John Collins appointed as Charleroi manager
A year after resigning as Hibernian manager, former Scottish midfielder John Collins has returned to management, but as manager of Belgium club Charleroi. The deal is a short term one, with Collins taking charge of the Zebras till the end of the season along with new assistant manager Tommy Craig. Charleroi are currently eleventh in the Jupiler League.
Collins was linked with the vacant Scottish managerial post, and was also interviewed by West Ham United, who eventually chose Gianfranco Zola.
Collins won the CIS Trophy at Easter Road, with Hibs beating Kilmarnock 5-1 in the final.
Collins, 40, was Celtic’s first million pound player when they signed him from Hibs in 1990. He retired from football when Scotland lost to England in a Euro 2000 playoff in November 1999.
