North Korea to meet South Korea in FIFA World Cup qualifier.
North Korea will meet South Korea in a third round Asian Football Confederation match in Shanghai today. Yes Shanghai, not Pyongyang.The match is a qualification game for the 2010 FIFA World Cup to be held in South Africa.
The two Koreas are part of the 20 teams that have made it to this stage. The qualifiers initially started off with 43 teams in the fray, competing for 4.5 spots. ( One spot will be determined by the winner of the playoff between an AFC team and an Oceania team). They are in Group 3 along with Jordan and Turkmenistan. South Korea, by virtue of being one of the top five seeds, were given direct entry into the third round. North Korea had to get past Mongolia in the first round, which they did comfortably, winning 9-2 over two legs.

Danny Simpson joins Ipswich on loan
Manchester United defender Danny Simpson has joined Championship side Ipswich Town on loan. Simpson, 21, has made eight appearances for United this season, but the return of Gary Neville from injury would have certainly limited his first team opportunities.

Joleon Lescott and David James sign new contracts
Portsmouth’s veteran goalkeeper David James and Toffees defender Joleon Lescott have signed extensions to their contracts. James will now stay at Fratton Park till the end of the 2009-’10 season while Lescott has pledged his future to Everton till the summer of 2012.

Charlton Athletic sign Leroy Lita on loan
Championship side Charlton Athletic have signed Reading striker Leroy Lita on a twenty day long loan. Opportunities have been limited for the Congo born striker at the Madjeski and he now joins fellow Royal Sam Sodje at the Valley. Sodje is on loan at the club, and so are Greg Halford, Lee Cook and Scott Sinclair.
